Every year around this time of year I like to drop by and address what may happen if things don't work out for you through Early Action. What if you are rejected? Believe it or not, it doesn't have to mean much unless you let it.

Five years ago (man that is amazing) I was rejected Early Action by the University of Notre Dame. Not deferred, non wait listed, flat out rejected. Yet, I still wear a class ring from Notre Dame and got Fr. Jenkins' Christmas letter asking for money. Clearly, if you don't get in EA, it isn't the end of the world and it may not even be the end of your Notre Dame dream!

Even if you are turned down by Notre Dame chances are that you are an excellent student and will have many choices for college. Trust that you will have options and pick a good college for you! Anticipate being the four years and give it the best shot you can, because chances are that you will love the college you end up at. However, if you don't, feel free to contact me.

I broke my rules a bit because the day I got rejected by ND was the first day I spoke with transfer admissions. It isn't a bad idea if you are seriously thinking of transferring to get in touch with them and take the proper classes so that option is on the table. More on this and much more can be found at my website Transferring to Notre Dame

I know I am not on the boards much and I run around living the busy life of a graduate student but if you have any questions please email me! Either PM me here or email me through the website. I am very open to all questions and I would love to have the opportunity to help you if EA doesn't work out for you.

I wish you all the best with EA; last year's board members did very very well and I anticipate this year will be no different! If there is anything I can do, please let me know, even if you just need to talk (AIM: NDpsych2007). Just remember that it isn't the end of the world and it isn't even necessarily the end of your Notre Dame dream unless you decide it is!
