What if this happened on your SAT Test Day?

So you studied and studied. Last time to take the SATs. Nervous and all that.
But what if...
on your critical reading, you were given a passage and you read it but you have no idea what it meant? Time is running out and you re-read it, but you could not understand what the whole passage is about! Let alone the questions!

What do you guys do?

(I was doing a practice test and this happened!)

Oh gosh. Pray that never happens? And don’t panic and do my best? And hope that nobody else understands it…

I wouldn’t panic.

It’s still easy to get a few points: read the questions, eliminate 2 of the more absurd choices, guess.

If you have practised enough it is completely impossible that you will not understand ANYTHING .Yes,you may have 2-3 wrong (about 760 ) but no way you dont understang anything…

Read it again

If you read it again, please skim, just skim, through the passage once more only. You might also refer to the blurb and the controlling sentence(s) of each paragraph to get the gist of the whole passage. And then, go into the citation questions right away. After answering/ or even not answering all of these questions, I bet you have a better understanding of the passage by now.

Well don’t (at least try not to) panic first of all
do the questions that refer u to a line first and hopefully u’ll get the gist

well obviously u didnt study. theres no way that can ever happen

^Actually that happened to me during the June SAT with one CR section. More specifically, the dang proctor decided to turn off the A/C and it turned like 100 degress and I had my jacket tightly on. I had just finished reading the long passage and all of a sudden I started sweating like crazy. My mind went blank, my head started spinning, and I forgot all I just read. I ended up just skimming line reference and guessing. Luckily I got all the other CR sections correct and hit the mark with guessing and ended up with a 690 CR, which was a 10 point increase from May’s 690…though if that incident hadn’t happened, I was so sure I could have scored a 750…sigh…December here we go.

@Orange

Actually it can happen and u never know

I read each paragraph separatly, so I make sure I understand one part before moving on to the next.

@Quick, I doubt it mattered that much.

Well, if you count that I couldn’t comprehend anything no matter how many times I reread it because my head just couldn’t function anymore and I just basically read the question w/o reading passage and answering by discriminating between answers, then I would say it really did matter.

Well then that’s your own fault and really can’t be blamed on anything.
Just have to work well under pressure.

I took my SAT without sleeping the night before…so…ya…stuff happens.

I think this is a good example of why everyone should take the SAT at least twice (unless u got a 2400 1st try). That means, even if u score 2350, why not go for even more? It never hurts to try again…

Wow dude, chill man. I’m just saying stuff like this can happen; I’m not trying to start an argument.

Yeah, that’s what I’m saying too, lol.
Stuff like that happens.

Haha, alright that’s cool.
