With the admissions decisions coming closer i wish you all the best, well carry on your studies and have fun at school, otherwise you may end up nerving yourself too much...

Well before you come i must tell you the environment is pretty competetive and there is a lot of diversity with hardworking students coming from all over the asia, the university has great links and exchange programs with European and US universities, and its financialy very favourable for you can easily get a loan that you have to pay after graduation in 20 years.

You will be required to sign a bond against which you will need to work for atleast three years in a singapore based company abroad or any MNC in Singapore, not bad huh?

If you are the entrepreneurial kind, you can easily go to any of NUS overseas colleges located in Silicon Valley, Shanghai Valley, Bio Valley ...etc...which you will get to work with a start up firm and at the same time attend your third year at places like Stanford, U Penn, IIT, Beijing U, Stockholm...

hi cres....... mind giving a very short brief intro.. coz it seems like u r an oldie..

acha sum stuff u may help me get cleared on NUS..
What exactly is the level of competition of Indian students and how many of them are there.. I mean last yr i heard the cutoff score went to something like a 91% without scholarship.

do they take into account ur sat 1 and sat2 results. I have pretty much asked them the same and all they tell is that it will be an additional factor and 12 results are decision makers..

what do they consider .. best of 5 subjects or the best 4 subjects.. this is also another stuff they never cleared my doubts on .. for Indian marking..

and well hows NUS life so far for u . enjoying it..?

Singapore has lush lush food. Its a constant sauna in terms of weather but you get used to it after a while.
The college experience is pretty cool. I lived on campus as my dad teaches at NTU so I got to see much of the life there first hand. The facilities are the best anywhere and everything you need is close by.

I don't study there so I don't know how it actually feels being a student there but I hear most local students prefer NUS to NTU.

kjoodles, most people perceive NUS to be more selective than NTU. however, singapore being the peasized place that it is, cannot have more than one professional course in its universities... as such, some professional courses such as accountancy is only avail at NTU and med only at NUS. im local, but im not very wellversed in the local unis. anything on culture, food, shopping, i will help!

Paying back the loan is not much of a problem usually unless you delibratley mess it up yourself,
Singaporean people respect laws, and following them enthusiastically has brought them quite ahead in the race for global recognition.
The laws are good deterrants, you may get in trouble if somebody reports you...as a student they do not matter much for they provide every resource that a good university ought to have, but socially almost everything is happening despite the laws but under shadows, and the risk of being picked and reported always remains.
