what if you can't see your decision yet for scholars

my friend applied for scholars but can't see his decision online yet.
do they tell you online if you get rejected?
if you don't get into scholars, does your admissions decision get pushed back?
basically, he hasn't gotten any decision yet, so what does this mean?

John: We have been trying to figure this out since 12:00...Some people got e-mails, other didn't...Some got semi through e-mail, others got rejected through e-mail...alot of people, though, heard nothing and nothing is on OPUS...

Yes, if you don't get scholars, your admissions decision gets pushed back......

"basically, he hasn't gotten any decision yet, so what does this mean?"....I wish I knew ....if you figure it out, let the rest of us in on it.....

yeah same here i can still see no sort of decision

crippled: I happened to scroll through last year's decision thread for scholars...It seems like this happened last year as well...many didn't hear the first day and also didn't get a notification e-mail....I couldn't get a sense of a pattern though.....there were still people posting semifinalist 3 days after the 16th. Not sure if that means anything.....

oh okay cause some people either got a decision at 12:00 a.m. today, others got an email at 12:00 p.m. today that told them they were rejected, and others like me and your friend havent received any sort of notification....many took this lack of notification as rejection, but yeah i think you're right about the rest being notified in the next 2-3 days

Yea, I take this lack of notification as rejection, but that's because my d's stats are nowhere near the people who got semi....Interestingly enough, I don't think any of the semifinalists who posted were Goizueta Scholars..If you see one, please PM me....

BTW, did any of the people who did get the "rejection" e-mail also have that on OPUS, or was it only on the e-mail??? I couldn't tell from the other thread....Maybe Tako can respond....

yeah i personally got no email, and only found out decisions were out when I checked CC and then checked my OPUS
aaaah the confusion!

welllllll i just checked my opus and still nothing, but i do have a new email from yale for an interview :)

when did you apply to yale? me no get interview yet :(
it's interesting that it seems many people who apply to emory are also applying to HYPS... well I guess it sorta makes sense

um...lets see i think on like the 26th

HS for me lol. Looks like I'm applying to "high school" or something. :)
I got my decision on OPUS like right when they released it while my friend at school is still waiting for a decision for some reason. Geography is definitely not a factor then. One down, one hundred million possibilities to go!

maybe some gremlins, who were calm at first, got water splashed on them...then they got into opus via ether net and then screwed up the system HA try and beat that

^^^ that is excellent

the really really distrubing thing to me right now
is that the people who have posted stats for rejection (off the top of my head, I'm thinking tako, squirrel...and there was someone else too) have equally great stats as the people who DIDN'T get semifinalist.

it kinda makes me feel better, because I fall in that semiqualified category too xD
but it's really scary how high the standards have risen...

That's why essays and recs are important.

yeah i think my essays were great, i mean everyone who read them said it was awesome, and my recs. were pretty good i mean the counselor is a lil forgetful, but she liked me

@aznnincompoop I'm confused. Squirrel didn't get the decision yet right? So he can't know if rejected.

yeah i havent gotten any sort of thing, and i think aznnincompoop was just assuming that those who havent gotten anything were rejected...just clarifying that

oh...it's not safe to assume that lol. assume the best! then you'll be happy (for the time being at least). but seriously, you're definitely going to get accepted. i wrote some pretty bad essays. at least compared to the ones i spent a lot of time on for harvard, stanford, mit, and duke.

yeah haha I actually havne't gotten anything either
but since tako is the only one officially rejected (sorry dear, if I'm rubbing in some salt on the wound), just saying that the people who were originally supposedly "rejected" and are now in limbo are just about equal to those who did get it...so it seems really arbitrary right about now
