What if...you change your major?

I am planning to enter as a vocal perf. major (IF i get accepted, that is, quite unpredictable). But, let's say you want to go into Medill...can you? Or, are you stuck w/ur major for eternity!! It's just to know that I have my options open, b/c i also LOVE journalism, but didn't want to go for a 5 year program.

Just curious-why wouldn't you want to do the dual degree program?

switching into medill is probably one of the hardest transitions to make at NU, but it's possible, it'll just take a while. they have a quota on how many students they have in the program at a time, so you have to wait for someone to drop out until you can get in.

^^Definitely. When I went on a tour of NU last summer our guide said that there's a pretty high demand each year to transfer into Medill, but that they typically take 1-2 people per year.

It's definitely possible though. I know an ex-theatre major with under 1300 SATs who transferred into Medill before his sophomore year (and still scored an internship with CNN this past summer).
