What if you do bad on the chemistry placement exam?

I already forgot all those chem stuffs from 10th grade, so I think I will do very bad on the exam…What would happen to me if I get a low score? I am very scared now =(

If you don’t get at least 21/44 or 45 questions right, you’ll have to take Workload Chem, which is a community college class offered on campus. You can take the test twice a quarter, so if you don’t pass during orientation, I’m sure you could arrange for another test later. The Chem placement exam isn’t too hard though, just really basic concepts, and a good chunk of it is simply Algebra I stuff. If you go on CliffsNotes or SparkNotes or something and review the first few chapters of their study guides, you should be fine.

i took it 2 days ago and failed with a 19/44. I did not know the test was required for Chem2A, i thought it was meant for if you want to take higher level chem… so… since I forgot all my chem, I marked C on everything I saw that required calculations… which were quite a few… lol XD my test, 7 problems were basic algebra stuff… so… XD
I will be retaking it again in the fall, pretty sure I’ll pass next time… lol
no worries :]

yeah im a lil worried about it too. does it go into stoichiometry and gases? im guessin they test on fundamentals and bonding and some acid/bases?

So grab the SAT II book and cram.

Yeah I’m a bit nervous about the test too I’m taking it next week, are there any practice tests ofthe sort to Help prepare?

Trust me, I’ve known people who haven’t even taken chemistry in high school and still passed that test easily. They ask you common sense questions mostly, so it should be pretty easy.

One of the questions last year was like “How many feet in a yard?” LOL

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I took it a few weeks ago and passed. I didn’t think I remembered any chem either. It’s a lot of common sense things. Just make sure you know how to balance equations and you should be fine.

o kool that makes me feel a lot better. what about the math placement test? is it hard? im not worried but i think i should jus review some trig rules
