What if you don't get in?

Just wondering - not to be a pessimist - but where would you plan to go if you didn't get into UCLA a month from now?

UCLA>UCSD>UCI>UCD ... you want fries with that?

Okay, I rarely toot my own horn..but I seriously expect to get into one of these schools.

Have your counselor call and ask why you were rejected.

You can appeal your decision if you really want to. It takes a while and you're not guaranteed admission even if you do appeal.

If it happens I plan on having the dean of my CC honors society write a letter as well...But I hope it doesn't come down to that.

i heard the ucla rejection letter makes people feel like **** and then they start hating ucla. i dunno, just what i've heard. maybe because they wanted to go so badly and they felt like all their hard work didnt pay off =(

does ucla tell you online if you are rejected or do you have to wait for the letter. If they do tell you online, how can i register so i can check it when hte time comes?

University of California at Los Angeles
405 Hilgard Avenue
Los Angeles, CA 90095

Dear Applicant:

Thank you for your application, however, upon serious reflection, we mean a quick glance, we can see that UCLA is not the school for you. We therefore would like to recommend a number of trade-schools, fine fast food establishments, or even goat herding as an alternate way of making a living. Better yet, the University of California at Riverside is now paying applicants, I mean accepting applicants on a regular basis to attend their fine (cough cough) school. (Flak vest can be purchased at the UCR Student Book store - next to the 99 Cent shop and the Popeye's Chicken).

We thank you again for your interest in UCLA, and we feel it was fairly obvious before you hit the submit button for your online application that you knew you hadn't a chance in hell of getting in. So it is with little regret that we have come to this decision. We do not expect an appeal from you as the Los Angeles County Department of Waste Management has already complained about our flooding their facilities with the mountainous volumes of application printouts such as yours.

We wish you good luck in all your future endeavors, which thankfully will not include us.

Signed,
Name withheld to protect the benevolent administrators of UCLA from you tracking us down because it is obvious you are mentally unstable with a less than impressive grasp of reality...seriously, seek help psycho.

You will find your decision online in March. No UCLA accounts have been established at this point.

For appeals:

Freshmen and Transfers

UCLA does not set aside space in our class for students who appeal admission decisions. Every denied applicant has gone through extensive reviews. Therefore, for an appeal to have merit, it must bring to light new academic and personal information, as well as information pertaining to extenuating circumstances that was not present in the application—information that clearly shows the student to be stronger than had been earlier evidenced. High grades received in the senior year are not a basis for the reversal of a decision.

It is our usual practice to respond to appeals within 3 weeks of the date we receive them. However, we cannot guarantee a response by May 1, the date by which many institutions expect their applicants to make a commitment.

While all appeals are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, the rate of a decision being reversed based upon an appeal has historically been very low.

All appeals should be directed to:

They revamped it and it looks really nice.

usc, ucsd, stanford, ucm, or ucd

starryqt22,

Why UCM?

If you don't get itno UCLA, do you have a chance at Stanford?

Allena...of course.

If you have a decent enough app, but something in your app doesn't resonate with a particular adcom, it may not go your way, while it may be just what another adcom is looking for.

BTW:

If I don't get in, I think I'm going to burn my UCLA sweatshirt. :)

allena, haha.

also, i did hear of one case where a student was rejected from UCLA but got into stanford. i believe i read this on the old CC board, but im not sure.

Yeah, I have way too many UCLA shirts and sweaters as a result of attending UCLA last summer. Tis' scary. Well, my little brother can have the UCLA dream if I don't get in.

I refuse to buy ANYTHING until I get in. But depending on which school I get into, it will go something like this:

UCLA: Hats, pens, pencils, notebooks, banners, poster, sweatshirts, tee-shirts, sweatpants, toilet paper, etc etc.

USCD: Sweatshirt, tee-shirt maybe.

UCI: Tee-shirt maybe.

UCD: Bumper sticker I will never use on my car.

;)

You've been similar statements in the past. I hope you get into UCLA.

Am I that transparent?

Well, ever since I started at my CCC, I have had my sights set on UCLA. If I don't get in, I won't be too bummed though. I would be fortunate to attend any of the other three UC's I applied to.

You want to do pre-med, right?

UCSD has a great program too. Plus, they also have Pfizer right next door.

Um...if I don't get in, should I burn all the UCLA clothes my parents have bought for me since I was a toddler. What about my license plate? What about my UCLA posters and blankets? What about basically everything i own?
