<p>The original state is what counts: the student will be listed as a semifinalist from the high school where the test was taken. The semifinalist status is not lost if the student moves to a state where their score does not meet a higher cutoff. </p>
<p>The original high school will have received the log-in information for the student to go online to the National Merit website to complete the application. However, that log-in code should not be used. The original high school has to go to the National Merit website and transfer the student to the new high school using the new school’s CEEB code. Then a new log-in will be issued to the student showing them to be a student of the new high school.</p>
