what if......

SAT:2400
SAT2: MAth 11C: 800, US history:800, Physics:800
ECs: NONE
GPA: 4.0
Aps: European History: 5, Physics: 5, Psycho: 5, Cal AB and BC: both 5
Where could a person like this get in?

Get in where exactly?

i dunno. you tell me.

Geez. Somewhere decent, but would they have taken classes outside of school or done research at least?

Otherwise... I don't think the best schools would be terribly pleased. No idea.

perfect scores aren't going to be good enough. They know those scores can come from paying tutors and studying your ass off. They need some indications of pure acheivement, such as state/national awards, and academic programs. No ECs also hurts you a lot

icantspellmyname:

Assuming you are a California resident,
UCB/UCLA: Safe Match
UCSD: Safety
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Safety
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Super Safety

yeah, you're a long long long long shot at any of the top 5, a reach at any of the top 10. You have to understand that there are tons of people with the GPA and the scores, and they need EC's to set you apart. This person however, illustrates an extreme, I doubt someone like this really exists (get out and enjoy the fresh air!!!!!) :)

Most smart people actually tend to push other people of a lower intellect away.

So unless your ECs are math competitions, science competitions or competions related to knowledge I can't see smart people doing ECs.

If you do ECs you are constantly harassed for not being at the norm level. So wouldn't a TOP IVY league colleges comprehend BASIC human behavior if they are actually at the top? They should be able to understand why this person lacks ECs even though he is bright. Unless the person attended a TOP private school where competition is seen easily so that he would be in with the same crowd a college of such high rank should be able to comprehend that this person simply didn't like being verbally harassed continuously.

If you don't believe this just read some of the web blogs. There is one where a mother changed neighborhoods because her kids were being harassed by other kids because they were smart. I haven't read them all but this reasoning makes perfect sense to me.

If so many people get top scores maybe they should make the tests harder to be able to truly distinguish the smart ones.

im speaking hypothetically, just so ya know
