What info to include when school is trying to find compatible roomate?

If a school is asking for your preferences so that they can match you up with a compatible roommate, what information should you include?

They just asked for " preferences", with no specific questions? That seems odd.

I would say describe what you would like to live with.

Talk about if you don’t mind if a person is messy or not. That caused some tensions with me and my roommate.

Here are a few buckets to consider:

  1. What is your sleep schedule? Are you a morning person or night owl?
  2. Studying? Do you prefer to study in the evening or morning?
  3. Noise? Do you prefer silence or noise ( music, netflix etc …)
  4. Are you social butterfly or an introvert? Will you want friends sleeping over or hanging out constantly? Or do want your room a sanctuary?
    5 Are you a clean freak or a mess maker? Does clutter drive you nuts or calm you?

I don’t recall schools asking these sorts of questions prior to acceptance. In fact our most recent experience they didn’t ask anything. Seems premature. Are you being asked or just planning ahead?
