what instrument do you play ?

Piano since 1st grade
Cello since 5th grade
Viola for 3 weeks for an ensemble concert.

Piano since 1st grade
Violin since 4th grade
Guitar since 5th grade

Alto Saxophone since 4th grade, Baritone Saxophone since 8th grade, and Tenor Saxophone since 9th grade.

violin since 6th grade. (still sucks at it though)

French horn since 6th grade. The arms since junior year. I’m playing whatever I open up my etude book to today because what is repertoire.

I played the recorder in 4th grade and that was it.

Does computer count? :p

The flute since 4th grade. Yes, I’m a dude.

Flute since 5th grade (6 years)
Piano from 5th to 8th grade (3 years of lessons, and I still tinker occasionally)
Violin for 3 months when I was 6 (does that even count?)

I started playing the violin when I was 4, but quit when I was 13. The last song I played was La Folia.
I started playing the piano when I was 8, and it’s been 6 years since I started. I’m playing Arabesque No. 1 (lol I know I suck) xD
I started playing the drums in the school band in 4th grade and quit before 6th grade.
I started playing the clarinet in the school band in 7th grade, and I just finished 8th grade (I don’t plan on continuing).
I got a guitar in 6th grade, but I never really learned how to play it xD It’s just been sitting in my room ever since.

Oh and I belt showtunes [strike]every day[/strike] sometimes in the car if that counts

EDIT: Formatting… I tried…

I’ve played the clarinet since 4th grade. I took some piano lessons when I was very young for a few years, then I stopped. In the last few years I’ve recently gotten back on the piano and I’ve been trying to learn as much as I can without a teacher. Recently started on Mozart’s Sonata in F K.332 and I’ve been working on Debussy’s First Arabesque for a few months now.

@Ctesiphon‌ We’re working on the same piano song now! But I’ve been playing for 6 years… I’m really behind.

I used to play the violin but it wasn’t really my thing. I found much more enjoyment and dedication to the upright bass and cello, which I’ve been playing for 8 years now? I don’t know, but my instrumental focus nowadays is voice, which is definitely my thing and my passion.

@LosingCrayon Not to be pedantic, but it’s not a “song”. Songs are sung, piano pieces are not! :P

I think the Arabesques are beautiful pieces though. Even if is less technically challenging than the Fantaisie-Impromptu or something there’s a lot of interpretation involved in Debussy’s music; it’s very beautiful. Good luck!

I’ve been playing the cello for almost eight years now, and have been singing for three. I also compose music and have just finished this:

I am currently working on Bach Cello Suite 1 Prelude (which I have previously played) and Courante, for the Regional Music festival.

I’ve played flute for nine years and am currently working on a Debussy piece.

Joining on the Debussy train, I’m currently learning Clair de Lun.

I’ve played alto sax 5-7 grade, tenor sax 7-10 grade, and am now playing Bari sax for the next 2 years. Marching band I did tuba the past 2 years and am switching over to trombone

Piano since the age of 4 - working on Rachmaninoff’s 2nd piano concerto
Violin from 2nd to 10th grade - don’t take lessons anymore, but I play at gigs / busk a lot with friends (we have a string quartet for hire in the local area). Last piece I played was the entire Mendelssohn concerto
Clarinet since 5th grade - planning on studying this + something else as a double major in college! Working on a lot of pieces + excerpts for various auditions, but focusing on the Mozart concerto. I’m auditioning for NYO-USA this year; anyone else here doing the same?
