Hey, everyone! So, despite it not even being October yet, it seems as though everyone around me already has internships lined up or at least a vague idea of what they’re going to do this summer. I, on the other hand, have no clue what I’m doing.
I’m a sophomore, but I still haven’t declared a major yet and really have no clue what I want to pursue. I’ve been changing my mind fairly frequently. My current favorite class is in the government department (American Political Campaigns) but since it’s the first government class I’ve taken, I’m not sure that I’ll continue to enjoy the subject later down the line (that’s happened a couple times now – I love a class in a particular subject, take a different class in the same subject the following semester, and realize it really isn’t my thing).
Not having a major makes it hard to look for/apply to internships because a.) I have no idea what kinds of internships I should even be looking for and b.) I feel like I’m at a disadvantage from other applicants who have a major and c.) I feel extremely unqualified for any type of position.
What kinds of internships should I be looking at? What other options are there (research, maybe? I feel like everyone I know who does research works in the sciences – are there research opportunities for the humanities?) If any of you can offer any advice regarding any of these problems, that would be wonderful!
