What interview questions have you had?

I know there are several lists online, but I wonder if they are outdated, or vary significantly between programs. So, here are mine from my BU and UMiami medical interviews, and please post your own.

Why do you want to go into medicine? When and how did you know?

Why do you want to go to a combined program? Our program? This school?

What medical experiences have led to your decision?

Name some hobbies or favorite activities outside of medicine or volunteering.

When have you failed, disappointed your peers, or given up on something?

How would you, or friends and teachers, describe you in 2-3 words?

How would you handle unsurety in a diagnosis and terminal illnesses?

What is one of your strengths?

When have you been in leadership position?

When have you felt uncomfortable or doubtful in a situation?

What is your intended major, favorite class or subject?

I wasn't asked any ethical questions really, they seemed like standard UG ones with basic medical ones. Both programs shared the questions with slight differences. I paraphrased and combined them from my 3 interviews (BU had 2). Curious to see if others had similar experiences?

Here are some of mine from Ursinus/Drexel:

 • What do you think is an important quality of a doctor?
 • What have you done academically during high school?
 • What do you know about our school?
 • What is your level of commitment to our school?
 • What is your intended major?
 • Is there anything else you’d like us to know about you?

Those are all the ones I can remember. Because entering the program involves another interview with drexel, this was a lot more focused on the school than on the program. Also, there were many other questions, but they were in context of my interview so theywouldn’t really apply to anyone else.
