Hello, I'm going to intro chemistry CH 301 this fall. It's 11 days before I move in, and I want to do some reviewing. Then again, I can review some during my time in college. Since textbooks are not required for my Chemistry class (Sutcliffe), what book would you guys recommend?

If you’re taking CH301 with Sutcliffe, probably the best textbook to use during the semester is going to be Zumdahl’s Chemical Principles, but Mark Bishop’s online chemistry textbook is a great reference (Google it). If you just want to review a little bit before starting class, almost any text will do. The main things I would recommend you brush up on are calculating moles, balancing equations, and stoichiometry. Those seem to be the biggest problems facing most students early in the semester and if you clear those hurdles without any trouble the rest comes a lot more easily. (Stoichiometry problems are those that give you an amount of one chemical in a reaction and ask you for an amount of another one. For example, “In the equation A + 2B → C + D, how many grams of B are required to completely react with 25 grams of A?”)
