what’s that on a 4 point scale??

on a 4 point scale it is an "A" or a 4.0 congrats.

ON 4.3 SCALE IT WOULD BE AS FOLLOWS:

A+ 97-100 : 4.3
A 94-96 : 4.0
A- 90-93 : 3.7
B+ 87-89 : 3.3
B 84-86 : 3.0
B- 80-83 : 2.7
C+ 77-79 : 2.3
C 74-76 : 2.0
C- 70-73 : 1.7
D+ 67-69 : 1.3
D 65-66 : 1.0

on a 4 point scale it would be

A 94-100 : 4
A- 90-93 : 3.7
B+ 87-89 : 3.3
B 84-86 : 3
B- 80-83 : 2.7
C+ 77-79 : 2.3
C 74-76 : 2
C- 70-73 : 1.7
D+ 67-69 : 1.3
D 65-66 : 1.0

Dude.

95.8 is to 100 as x is to 4. Multiply 4 and 95.8 and divide by 100.

according to Lily's method

you would have a 3.832

How does your school calculate GPA (ask your GC for a copy of your school's profile which goes out to the colleges with their recommendation)

will all colleges recalculate your GPA when you submit your application?

the selective ones will and will recalculate for major courses (english, math, sciences, history, foreighn language) Gym, Band, and stuff like that are not calculated when grades are recalculated. Many do not weigh AP and honors courses because it is an expectation that the student is taking the most rigerous courses that their school offers.

yea do what lily did. its just a proportion.

95.8 out of 100, so 95.8/100 = x out of 4, so x/4

95.8/100=x/4, cross multiply. (95.8*4)/100=3.832

ok so 3.8~~ is it a good GPA?? . (it's unweighted)

Uh, don't do a proportion? You do it by class. Say you got a 74, 98, 95, 93, 91, 87, 96, and an 82 for a semester.

Using this standard 4.0 GPA calculator:

A 94-100 : 4.0
A- 90-93 : 3.7
B+ 87-89 : 3.3
B 84-86 : 3.0
B- 80-83 : 2.7
C+ 77-79 : 2.3
C 74-76 : 2.0
C- 70-73 : 1.7
D+ 67-69 : 1.3
D 65-66 : 1.0

74, 98, 95, 93, 91, 87, 96, 82 = 89.5

(2.0, 4.0, 4.0, 3.7, 3.7, 3.3, 4.0, 2.7)/8 = 3.425

89.5/100 = x/4 or a 3.58...

3.58 != 3.425. Even if you use an A+ (4.3) it's only a 3.5. So, don't use Lily's formula...

I wish we had that scale
ours is
A 96-100
A- 92-95
B+ 88-91
B 85-88
B- 82-84
C+ 79-81
C 75-78
C- 72-74
D+ 68-71
D 65-67
F UNDER 64

If your school has ABCDF grading it may correspond to some numerical scale,if not skip this step. 90-100 A, 94-100 A,etc. All A's is a 4.0 on any 4.0 scale. As all B's is a 3.0 and 1/2 Bs half As is a 3.5. Do not use Lilly's approach. If you do you are penalizing yourself hideously against all the other applicants. It makes a 4.0 a virtual impossibility. Translate your numeric grade into a letter grade. Then everybody ,those who started out with a letter or those that start out with a number, average the letter grade values. That is how the colleges do their own GPA. Ex. 4 hours of A =16, 6 hours of B=18 added together you have 10 credits and 34 "grade points". Divide 34 by 10 and Voila 3.4 grade points per credit hour, a 3.4 grade point average. Be absolutely sure your school sends an explanation of your schools bizarre grade point structure, because there are some really odd ones out there (like the ones on this thread). D has a 98.167 numerical average , an uw g.p.a. of 4.0 ,and a weighted GPA of 4.594. Not a GPA of 3.8167.( A 4.0 on a 4.0 scale is all As, not all 100s.)

curmudgeon is correct. In my explanation, I presumed equal hours for all classes.
