Hi all. I was accepted into Hunter and Baruch. I am deciding which one I should attend. Both are amazing schools and have stellar reputations. I will be majoring in biology, so I’ll just put that out there.
How do the biology programs differ? Which one is better? How is the social life like at each school? Responses from those who have been to, or currently attend Baruch or Hunter would be really appreciated.
I wish i could offer more other than what i’ve read online. I know hunter is the hardest to get into and the classes i’ve taken there through college now were pretty good! I think that hunter is the better of the two but again i don’t have any personal experience
Baruch is the business school. If you are majoring in business, that is where you want to be.
Hunter is more geared toward Social Sciences, Life sciences , Nursing.
Both have campuses that are spread out, over blocks.
Academically for sciences, I would say Hunter
Socially, I personally think that there are more places to go around Baruch’s campus and Gramercy park has a better college vibe than the upper east side.
Socially all of NYC awaits you at either school! Hunter is closer to Central Park, the Met Museum and other museums … there’s plenty of stuff to go around. And one quick subway ride away is whatever else you desire.
For bio, definitely Hunter. The city is compact enough that, with a monthly Metrocard, you can get anywhere.
Agree with @techmom99 the vast majority of Baruch students are in the business school. From what I know hunter is better for sciences.
