What is exactly a brag sheet? Is it a list or a detailed description of a few activties. As far as I go, is it appropriate to give a brief description of the research I have done (4 different projects in the span of my junior+senior year). I was also thinking of describing my Eagle Community Service Project I did for my Eagle Scout? Is this what usually goes on a brag sheet? Any advice would be much appreciated asap bc im in the middle of applying right now :(

Yes, all of those would be excellent to put on a brag sheet. You then normally would give it to the teacher(s) who is/are writing your letter of rec so that they can refer to it and include certain things on that sheet in their letter.

very cool, however my counselor had a survey that i filled out and gave to teachers for recs. I think i mentioned some of my key points as answers to the questions. However do you think i should go ahead with attaching the brag sheet to my common app anyway? i also thought of a few other interesting pieces of info that don't really fit anywhere else on the common app. thx for the quick respose btw, its really good to get those when your overwhelmed with questions and have deadlines with applications lol.

Be careful not to duplicate information already in your app, or explained in essays. Quantity is not always quality and may appear to be an act of desperation. They don't weigh the application, they read it. Ivy reps have expressed dismay over long applications. Caution!

First, as riverrunner says, consider whether it's really "additional" information and not duplicative.

Second, consider that the admissions counselor has limited time to review your application. What's the most important things you want him or her to know? If it's about the experiments and your Eagle Scout project, fine, but describe them in phrases, not sentences, and in as few phrases as possible: "Studied effects of gamma rays on man-in-the-moon marigolds" should be sufficient.

Think of it this way: Assume you were meeting with the counselor, who has already read the rest of your application. You have 1 minute to impress him/her. Go.

That's what should be on your brag sheet.

srry i think there is a mix up in what i said...for recommendations i gave teachers and counselor a questionare that i got from my counselor. Questions like "what do you do in your spare time", "what are you most proud of". I am also preparing a brag sheet to put on my common app. The two are completely unrelated. But yea, i think i should describe exactly what i did on my eagle project and some key points of my research because i can't go into detail on them in the common app.

At the risk of sounding redundant is that what a brag sheet is?
