what is a "followup letter"?!

Did anyone have "followup letter" on sent list?

Why do they always use ambigious phrases...like folder pulled, committee read, etc?

so vague and unclear....

somebody reply?

I was accepted under early decision and I never got a "followup letter." I wouldn't worry, though. I still haven't gotten any information packet of any kind other than the confirmation letter, and that stuff is supposed to be sent out when the RD letters are. Hopefully this means that I will be getting something like that soon, as well as your notification. I hope you get in. Good luck.

(By the way, I wouldn't trust that page to make sense. They had my address wrong and all of those weird phrases don't mean anything in particular. It is updated kindove randomly and the committee read and folder pulled things popped up before some of my test scores and other things got there... I still got in. I am guessing they went back and looked at it again or something. Just try to wait until you get your decision without checking that page 500 times a day like I did.)

too late. i've been checkin' way over that--since uhh December 2nd.

and also the mail box, email, and cc site
and yea...i know its sad isnt it? like who's gonna update it at 2 in the morning.

but that's ok. im not alone. right?

btw, supremeradness, did you find out online--did they change color for accepted/rejected, wl-ed section--or mail first?

i hope cmu doesnt execute the "process of elimination" thing b/c of the increased applicants. :(

I got the letter first, then about a day or two after (mine came a little late because of address change but I think it is about a week usually) the website was updated. When it says that they want everyone to find out by mail first they tell the truth. Still, it is really reassuring to check it and see that you are accepted (Decision: Accept to the right of your school choice on the page) with more proof than just one piece of paper.

I actually like the way CMU correlates the mail and the online data as far as acceptances and rejections go.

I checked online and saw that it said some weird stuff like "accepted" but I was still unsure of why that meant. I can't remember clearly but maybe it didn't even say accepted it might've said something vague like "Admission Acc." or something.

I was trying not to get my hopes up so I ran to my mailbox outside and lo and behold, there was a letter from CMU. It was pretty thin but I opened it and it said "Congratulations....etc.".

Thank god for the letter because it was a Saturday and the admissions office was closed and I would've been freaking out calling everyone to see if I was accepted or not or what the website meant.

thanks, but that didnt answer my question, btw, but thanks

I thought Supreme answered your q.

Just to re-iterate, dont' worry about it, it may be something random such as more information packets or maybe financial aid?

somewhat, but not really a definite answer. i didnt apply for financial aid/scholarship/grant.

Haha you could always call the office to demand to know what it is :) More or not its information (like the pretty awesome CD they sent me which had information about Carnegie Mellon).

already got the CD couple months ago

aite. approximately 200+/- of you viewed this message and if there are 2k/3k or w/e of prospective students, at least one of you must have "folowup letter" on your sent list
