My school can do warranty service on dells on campus, so I am thinking that is what I will get. Can anyone one suggest some good laptop models with 15+ inch screen? Price is nota huge problem, under $1500. I'm not a gamer, I only play The Sims. Will Dell come out with newer models before early August?

Check out the Dell Studio 15 (15.6" display). They’re currently running a special. I ordered one about few days ago. It’s a new edition of the previous Studio that had a 15.4" display.

I would recommend Dell’s business line laptops such as the latitude E6500.

Does anyone know if the rumor about free upgrades to windows 7 if purchased after July is true?

mm99, that rumor is most definitely false. Microsoft may be offering a similar program, but Dell is most definitely not.

A Dell spokesperson has indicated that Windows 7 pricing will be more than Windows Vista. If this is the case, I would assume they are not giving free upgrades.

Was there free upgrades to Vista for computers purhased within a few months prior to its release? Or am I remembering things wrong?

@mm99
No one really knows. It’s more like leaked news than a rumor, but before MS officially announces anything, I wouldn’t count on it.

Either get a Latitude or high end Studio.

Stay away from Inspirons

In my opinion, “Good Dell” is an oxymoron.
