What is a good GPA for getting into a good graduate school?

I had a 3.85 in high school so I was able to get into a good university. I want to get into a different university that's about the same level.

But after my first year my GPA was 3.55.
Is the standard for college GPAs lower or am I just doing poor?
What is a really good GPA in college like comparable to what's thought of as good as a 3.85 in high school?

I know a lot of stuff is taken into account when getting accepted, but let's just look the GPA and grades in your classes aspect.
Thanks!

College GPAs are generally lower than high school as classes are more difficult if that is what you are asking. You certainly aren’t doing poorly, a 3.5 can get you into graduate school although as you mention GPA is only one part of the application, other things like research are likely weighted heavier depending on where you are going.

Classes are more difficult and there are no weighted averages. A 3.55 is a good GPA, so I wouldn’t worry.
