what is a good gpa needed to transfer

I am an international student, and I want to know what a good GPA is if I wanted to transfer to Georgetown University, University of Michigan Ann-Arbor, University of Pennsylvannia, Emory University, Georgia Tech, University of Texas, and the University of Virginia. Many people say that a 3.5 GPA is good enough, but I want to be sure, of what a very good GPA is if there is a need for meto transfer. Please answer this as soon as possible. I also want to know a good GPA for the Ivy league transfer if possible.

Thank you

It depends on so many other factors. You can get into those schools with that GPA. But also you can be reject with a 3.5+ GPA. It depends on so many other factors that I don't think anyone here can tell you much more than that. I mean if you have amazing extracurriculars, then that is awesome. If you are a freshman and had a bad high school gpa, you might be in some trouble. If you are a freshman and had a great high school gpa, then that will help. If you are a sophomore, high school record doesn't matter as much. Are you applying to Penn CAS or Penn Wharton? Are you applying to Georgetown College or SFS? Did you have astounding test grades? Again those mean less if you are applying for junior year. There too many factors to give you an answer. But yes, it's possible to get into those schools with a 3.5 GPA. And if everything else is good, there's probably a good chance that you'll at least be considered competitive.

a GPA only maximumize your chance, a good GPA (according to Stanford University) is with in the 3.8-4.0 range, however, for other schools, it may gets lower.

A GPA of 3.5+ is adequate, although depending on the difficulty of your courseload adcoms may be more generous

Toph, I Am Sorry If My New Thread Ticked You Off. I Am Just Wondering How One Could Possibly Enter A School Like Georgetown With A 3.5 Gpa, Because I Hear That Those Schools Want People With Above A 3.7 Gpa. Anyway I Plan To Apply For Admission At Georgetown Mcdonough School Of Business, And A Few Other Schools.

Thank You For Your Patience And Sorry Again.

You didn't tick me off. I'm just trying to help you out... it's simpler to keep a discussion on one topic in one thread. The honest truth is there are a lot of other factors besides GPA. Try and keep your GPA as high as possible. And if you have an upward trend in your GPA that can only help you. Say you pull a 3.8 this semester and a 4.0 next semester. Since you had a 3.2 GPA (correct me if this is wrong), your recent trend may place you higher than some one who has had a decreasing GPA but same overall cumulative or has held a steady GPA. College is an adjustment and for junior transfers, if you do well your other semesters they'll probably be forgiving of a less than stellar first semester. And a 3.2 really isn't that bad for a first semester. But like I said if you pull good grades your next couple semesters, I don't know why you wouldn't be competitive. But focus on making sure you are participating in ECs and figuring out why you want to transfer. There's more to getting accepted than GPA, and yet GPA is very important.

Toph, Do You Know Any Student Who Transfered To A Competitive College With A 3.5 Gpa. Please I Would Like To Know.
