I am starting my freshmen year of community college this august. I am trying to decide which humanities class I should take for my Cal State requirement? I want to major in english or in some form of poly sci. Which humanities course is a good one to take for an english or poly sci major? I was thinking that philosophy would be a great choice. What is everyone's opinion?

I would say philosophy.

Philosophy or Classics.

Honestly, I say take whatever YOU think is interesting. This is your elective, I'm assuming? I don't know what your school offers for courses, but I'd rather take something that kept me interested than something just for the benefit of my major. :) (Haha, I'm big on humanities classes)

Philosophy sounds like an excellent choice.

Consider a course on organizational behavior.

philosophy

unlimitedx,

I already am a compulsive neat-freak.

Not that way. Organizational behavior is "a general descriptive and analytical study of organizations from the behavioral science point of view. Problems of motivation, leadership, morale, social structure, groups, communications, hierarchy, and control in complex organizations are addressed. The interaction among technology, environment, and human behavior are considered. Alternate theoretical models are discussed."

I'm going to recommend Psychology. It can be applied to just about anything in real life that involves people. Since you'll probably have to take intro and maybe a few others, take an elective one that looks interesting to you.

I think I'm going to take abnormal psych as the one of the courses I need for a psych minor (as an elementary ed major at my school, I'm two psychs away from a minor, so I'm going to go for that).

Also, if law is a concentration, you'll probably want all the psych you want. As an education major, having a psych minor will definitely help me--even if I wasn't two away from the minor I might have gone for it anyway.

I will probably take intro to psychology and intro to philosophy.
