what is a "good interview"?

everyone has asked me if my interviews have been good, and i feel like they all went well, but i don't know what a "good interview" is, because you're really just talking about yourself.

anyone who has been accepted want to share their "good interview" experiences?

all of mine have been at least 45 minutes long, most of the times lasting so long that other kids AND their parents arrived, both got interviewed, and left. i have made all my interviewers laugh at least twice, and shared some kind of a connection or heard some personal information about the interviewer.

sounds good to me...

After a good interview, your interviewer will at leasting sending you an e-mail saying that you did a great job.

awww really???

i got a letter from peddie, but nothing from all of my other schools.
except the rest were alumni interviews, so um maybe (hopefully) its different...

eeek.

Oh god, bestswimmer. I got 1 handwritten note and that's it!

But yeah, my interviews were done by the alumni so I don't know if the situation is different.

cait, go online =]
i'm bored senseless hahah

really? i've gotten a note/letter from every school, but i thought everyone got one.

I'm online :D

coolgirl, that must mean that you did well!

good job, and good luck :D

thanks! good luck to you too :)

people who applied to exeter: i'm gonna assume that you all got a postcard note thing from your interviewer?

How about "You've done a really great job. I can really see you here." Do you think that is a meaningful comment from an interviewer? Or do they always say that?

Coolgirl - it sounds as though you did well. I would define a good interview as just what you described.

To everyone (bestswimmer too) - most interviewers send a thank you of some sort. Some do a hand written note, some a standard post card with a hand written note on it, some a letter with a hand written note on it. Some do not. Some, I think wait until the candidate sends them one (just a guess). Some I think, just don't send them. One of my son's best interviews (based on feedback we got from the interviewer who told us he answered a question "the best of the year" and he had written down the answer and read it to us word for work, so I beleive him) he didn't get a note. He has not gotten ANY email notes.

I tell you all this so that you don't think if you didn't get an email that you did poorly. All the admins and schools have different sytles.

nmama - I don't think they would say that without meaning it, but it in no way means you are in. I'm sure a whole lot of people who are rejected did a great job in the interview too and would qualify for that comment (and probably got it).

I don't think you can tell from reactions because each interviewer is different. Some interviewers might send postcards or whatnot, some interviewers like to encourage applicants and tell them they definitely have a chance, some are honest.... I don't know.

Um, this is making me nervous because even though I think my interview went well, I never received anything from the interviewer. I did call and personally thank her for her time, but other than that and the interview, there has been no contact.

when was your interview? i wouldn't worry too much about it. who was your interviewer for exeter?
