What is a Priority Deadline?

UT Austin has a priority deadline of Nov 1:

Now, what exactly does this mean and is it different from early action? When I try to select my term on Coalition, it just shows Fall 2020 with deadline Dec 1.

I had the exact same question. I used their Texas on line app form and Dec 1 automatically came up as the deadline. No idea what this means. Help Please!!!

It explains this right on the website:

November 1
The priority deadline offers students the opportunity to receive their admission decision up to one month earlier. All completed applications received by November 1 will receive an admission decision by February 1, which may include a deferred decision to March 1 (the regular application deadline notification date).
