As the title says, what is a Title IV Federal Authorization Form? Do you have to fill it out if u get federal aid?

Title IV aid is government aid: Pell, ACG, SMART, Stafford & Perkins loans, FSEOG, and Federal Work Study. Schools are supposed to have anyone who receives any of this aid fill out a form that authorizes (or indicates the student does NOT authorize) the school to use any excess funds (that is, the amount of aid that won’t be directly applied to current charges like tuition/room/board/fees) for prior period charges, other noninstitutional expenses, or to credit the student’s account to cover future charges such as books, health insurance, lost ids, fines, etc. In other words, you have to tell the school whether or not you want aid that isn’t going toward your direct tuition/living costs to be able to be applied to other charges.
