What is a UM GPA??

Can anyone tell me how to calculate the UM GPA. I have around a 3.85 UW GPA and a 4.9 W GPA.

Use your sophomore grades and junior grades only and calculate GPA using

4= A, A-, A+
3= B,B-,B+
2= C, C-,C+

Also take out any non-academic classes like PE, health, band, choir, shop class, etc.

thanks-----

do you know what the average UM GPA is for UMichigan?

no i dont but i know mine is 3.93

If you mean average LSA gpa, which you probably do, it’s somewhere between a 3.1 and 3.2.

For the record, the UM in “UM GPA” stands for University of Michigan.

^That gpa is for students currently attending the University of Michigan, isn’t it?

The gpa for accepted applicants coming out of high school is usually much higher.

Yes, sorry. That 3.1-3.2 is the about the average gpa of students currently attending Michigan. Not of high school applicants.

I believe it’s 3.3.?

No way in hell is the average UM GPA 3.3. That would mean the average grade given ou is B+ which just isn’t what happens. Its definitely in the 3.1/3.2 range.

when they take out non-academic classes to recalculate your gpa, does that include any foreign languages?

I don’t think so, foreign languages are generally considered academic and rigorous.

Foreign language, math, sciences, social sciences, computer science, and English are the things they don’t take out.

Foreign languages are counted.

How about final/semester grades? Like if you get a B+ first semester and an A- final grade. Is that a 3.5 or a 4?

idk, my school doesn’t do final grades, we just get grades per semester as our final grade. And a B+ is a 3.0, not a 3.5.

UM only counts full year, core curriculum courses, so unless you’re on block schedule, you’ll only use your final grade.

I skipped tenth grade, so how will they recalculate my gpa? Will they use my freshman grades as my sophmore grades?
