<p>Yes, an URM stands for underrepresented minority. In other words, it is a US citizen who belongs to a race that is underrepresented in colleges at a national level. That generally means Hispanic/Latin American, Native American or African American. </p>
<p>Note that Asian Americans, Arab Americans, Jewish Americans etc... do NOT qualify as underrepresented minorities.</p>

<p>As of January 2nd, being a URM shouldn't matter in the admissions process. The appeals court decided to immediately apply the Affirmative Action Ban adopted by the voters last November.</p>
