I saw this mentioned in another post and wondered what it was. Thanks!

I suspect the poster meant Alternative Spring Break Week. Both of my kids did a service spring break during one of their spring breaks at Vandy, one through ASB and one through Habitat for Humanity. They loved those experiences.

My d also did ASB (which was created at Vanderbilt 20 years ago! :)). It’s a huge deal at Vandy and is selective - not everyone who volunteers is chosen. There are usually several programs at locations throughout the US and even in Latin America, IIRC.

There is - or at least was - an Alternative Summer Break program as well, which was also a 1-week commitment.

My son also chose to do Alternative Spring break every year so far. A great way to bond with new friends…Greek and Non Greeks are very active in ASB. Their website is quite informative so check it out.

Alternative Spring Break was one of the highlights of my Vanderbilt experience.

Some sites are extremely competitive and will need a strong application to even have a chance.

ASB is so cool. You really get a chance to bond with a group of people for a week since you’re living together and doing everything else together. I even had a few “relations” with a couple of the girls afterward thanks to the time I spent at ASB.

I will put in a plug for Habitat Spring Break. My D has been involved with Habitat since high school & was the board at Vandy. It’s another great spring break option.
