Hello all,

Just wondering what an acceptable Math 2 score would be for someone wanting to pursue engineering, comp sci or physics? Obviously an 800 but what would the lowest acceptable score be? Daughter will be taking Calc AB as a junior and is looking at Rice, GA Tech, as well as possible USAFA. She isn't looking for perfection but the lowest acceptable score where she should not bother re-taking.

It is hard to say as it very from school to school. However, the top 11-12% students got 800 in Math2 and the curve is very generous that allows multiple mistakes. She should aim at 800 for any top engineering schools.

Anything above 700 is considered outstanding. But if she is weak in grades or any other area (and what “weak” is depends on the school), she probably should retake anything below a 750.

Calc, AP or not, is useless for the Math II test. It is far earlier in a person’s scholastic career. The things that my son forgot for the Math II test my 12 year old knew from 7th grade math.

Past experience from other people and college data suggests 720 or higher
