I was wondering what an acceptable SAT Score would be for Ivy League school Admission.

Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia: 2300+

Cornell, Dartmouth, Brown: 2150+

-200 points if you are an URM

In general, 2250+ is acceptable.

a friend of mine got into Harvard with a 100% scholarship Eco Honors for 2230!
beat that!

Harvard doesn’t give scholarships, only financial aid based on income.

Lol@iamthebist. ■■■■■.

yeah as dblazer said 2250+ would put you on the safe spot
but there are some rare occasions where I’ve seen some ppl get in to ivies with 2100s but of course with killer ec’s or honorable awards
i’ve never seen someone getting in an ivy with lower than 1900

Are the scores listed intended for superscores or highest score in a single sitting?

Most ivies, i believe, look at superscore. But you should check.

@sMITen-fianancial aid and scholarships differ? well i dont know about that a lot but still she got 100% of something :P

a friend of mine got into havard with 1860 back in 2008.full need based financial aid.

If you’re middle/upper-middle class, 2300+.
If you’re rich or working class or poor, 2150+.

what…?
how’s the score lower if you’re richer

Less than that and you’re screwed. It’s not like getting perfect plus 300 is even kind of challenging. Just study or whatever. Don’t **** it up :)

what 2700
what are you talking about

the score’s lower if you’re richer because you can pay most of the tuition = good for colleges in that they dont have to provide FA for you

^^ Do you have a source for that? I don’t think that’s true for most colleges/any ivy league schools. This is a rather poorly defined question. There is no cut-off score for what is “acceptable” vs. “unacceptable”. What would be nice to know is what score is necessary to gain admission as a function of the rest of your profile. The only useful thing I can suggest is to look at the 25th/75th percentile cutoffs for the students attending those schools, as a rough guide. Common wisdom is that if you’re below the 25th percentile you’re unlikely to gain admission unless you have something unusual going for you…I don’t know how true that is, but it seems likely, given that there are many people with extraordinary accomplishments and SATs around the 25th percentile, so if you have SATs around the 25th percentile, and so-so other accomplishments…

I guess no one told you about extra credit on SATs? Huh. It’s quite simple; you just staple a few things to the back of your answer sheet. Typically, Kleenex boxes decorated with trig identities, mobiles of the solar system(leave off Pluto!),
and/or reviews of classy historical nonfiction pieces such as Team of
Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin are optimal. Good luck!

if u have the time, prepare hard and get a 2300+. its possible and it will get you in somewhere.

So much falsity on this thread. While, I’m aware the 2700 thing is just a joke, all of other answers are just as comical. There is NO standard score to get into the Ivies. For those who say “2300+ if you have no ECs,” don’t bother. If you have no ECs, a 2400 won’t do you any good.

Accordingly, an low score coupled with good ECs is a gray area. Honestly, do your best on the SAT, but don’t obsess over your score. Focus on ECs and then just take a chance and apply. It doesn’t hurt.
