I understand that the day varies considerably depending on what block you are in. Regardless, I’m curious what ANY student’s schedule would look like with the block plan. The academics are notoriously rigorous-- how much time is spent studying outside of class? In class? How much sleep do students generally get? (The website said that campus is normally quite busy by 8:30)
Thanks!
The vast majority of students are in class from 9-12 each day. Some classes will meet in the afternoon for labs, other activities. A lot of people tend to part-time jobs, sports, ECs, working out, eating, hanging out, studying in the afternoons and evenings. Daily study time can ebb and flow depending on where you are in the block and what type of course you are taking that block. If it’s a humanities or social science class, you could easily have a couple hundred pages of reading per night and/or research and writing for papers.
One thing that differs from colleges with a more tradition schedule is pretty much everyone being in class at the same time, eating lunch right after at the same time, etc. No scheduling all your classes for the afternoon or scheduling all your classes to fall on Tues, Wed, Thurs. You’ll pretty much have class M-F 9-12 and maybe some more.
