Is this something you sign up for? If so, when can I sign up for it? If I do an on-campus interview, do I not get an alumni interview, or are they two separate things?

Is an on-campus interview just a way of securing yourself an interview in case you aren't offered one with an alumni?

Also - do those who do on-campus interviews have a higher chance?..

An on-campus interview… is an interview conducted on campus. That’s it. Policy regarding it differs from college to college.

You won’t get an alumni interview if you do an on campus interview

Frutiaspice, are you sure? Because they’re so different…

Powerbomb, it depends on the school; for example, a few months ago Yale sent me an e-mail telling me I could sign up for one, so I did.

Alumni are trained to conduct interviews like those on campus. If you’ve already done one interview, alumni will not bother doing another interview with you.

I just snooped something out from 2007 CC board about Yale on-campus interviews:

“My friend had an on-campus interview, and she was contacted for an alum interview a few days ago. Nobody has contacted me yet.”

And also similarly:
"I had an on-campus interview in the summer, and someone contacted me about an alum interview like a couple of weeks ago… "

(From here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/416685-does-campus-interview-means-no-alumni-interview.html)

Ah, OK. But someone also mentioned that students who’ve already had interviews will be given less priority, which makes sense to me. That is why I said that alumni probably will not bother doing another interview.

Also, it’s possible that that alum sent a mass e-mail to a bunch of people in the area. I couldn’t tell from the posts.
