Haha, once again, Cal is for Stanford rejects.

(This thread probably should not have been revived, killthefifi.)

ā¦
For a safety school, theyāre still doing pretty damn awesome.
Weāre not the ones who lost so much money that we wonāt even release numbers.
But we are the ones who are increasing enrollment, something that stanfurd didnāt want to do because it would hurt the āquality of lifeā (AKA, lose the exclusive country club feel)

And just because you donāt find it useful doesnāt mean that others donāt as well.
As a matter of fact, two people PMed me, thanking me for fighting against you guys.

Iāve never visited either, but am going to Admit Weekend 2009, baby! Hopefully I donāt fall (out of) love with Stanford!

Cal and Stanford rock.

case closed? :D

The one big negative I can think about:

They reject too many people. :D

^^Just 92.4% of applicantsā¦not a huge percentageā¦

Having looked at both places, I saw very little to attract me at Berkeley, and I fell in love with Stanford.
Naturally, I applied to Stanford and not Berkeley.
The result? Stanford admit weekend, here I come!
Iām thrilled that I didnāt waste time with applying to Berkeley and attempting to navigate the UC system. I love Stanford.

^^As do I (or so I hope)! See you at Admit Weekend!

Well, that percentage should still give people like you and me a huge ego boost, dpattz. hahaha kidding kidding. We have to be happy/excited now, since Iām sure we wonāt be when weāre working our butts off next year. : )

^dpattzlover:

Sure Stanford gets an A- for selectivity! :)

^^haha. Apparently none of the schools in this country are good enough to get an A in selectivity (well, on some scales Harvard might just pull it off). :)

Actually Iām surprised Stanford hasnāt gotten an A in selectivity yet too.

To Stanford: Stop slacking! An A- is terrible!! You guys really should have an A by now. Iām SO disappointed in you guys. Shame on you, Stanford!!!

āWeāre not the ones who lost so much money that we wonāt even release numbers.ā

Stanfordās released plenty of statistics (Iāve read about them in the campus newspaper). Sorry you arenāt privileged that info. (Cal hasnāt lost so much money because it doesnāt HAVE that much money in the first placeāsmall endowment + state budget cuts + crappy alumni donation turnout = bad financial situation from the get-go. Add the economic crisis on top of that and youāre in real deep ****.)

āBut we are the ones who are increasing enrollment, something that stanfurd didnāt want to do because it would hurt the āquality of lifeā (AKA, lose the exclusive country club feel)ā

What? Stanford has been talking about expanding enrollment for a while; itās put that idea on the shelf right now because of the economic crisis, as should Berkeley. Heck, Berkeley canāt even support all the students it has right now, I donāt know why itās trying to support more. Sorry that Stanford doesnāt want to try to take on an enormous amount of students and not be able to support them all properly.

āAs a matter of fact, two people PMed me, thanking me for fighting against you guys.ā

Iām not saying no oneās with youāitās obvious that some are, from this thread. Iām saying that you revived a thread that has too many flaws to be āhelpfulāābecause so much of it is untrue (namely what you have tried to say against Stanford). Itās contentious, which is why it shouldnāt have been revived. You can let it die now.

good call, phantasmagoric. although Iām sure you and I both know that, as soon as he sees this last post of yours, heāll feel the need to once again revive this debate. this is not a challenge; this is just a statement that I believe to be true from having watched his past actions. he needs to quit using this board to try to convince himself that Berkeley is a better school than Stanford and that he would have been abjectly miserable at Stanford. heās not fooling anyone, and probably not even himself.

I have to admit that based on the comments of this Berkeley guy and the infamous mathboy, I have a really negative image of UCB in my mind right nowā¦it seems like they are always trying to prove that Berkeley is really ābetterā than Stanford while I see very few Stanford students trying to prove the oppositeā¦:/.

Did anyone mention getting run over by bikes? Other than that, I canāt think of one thing.
