Can someone help me get a feel for Brown? What it’s like there, what it’s known for, how it compares to the other Ivies, etc. I do not have a clue what Brown is like and it is the only Ivy I have never visited.

How about you visit their website and other college search websites to get an idea, then ask us specific questions? Collge prowler and Uni*go are good sources for that sort of thing (remove *).

or search around brown section here. Many of us have posted a lot.

This is unrelated, but why does College Confidential “bleep out” innocuous words/phrases like autoadmit, college prowler, Unigo, and others? I can understand hiding vulgar language and things of that sort, but are they really that scared that all of College Confidential is going to pack up and move over to Unigo if it’s not covered up? Really? I what kind of negative consequences could come from someone seeing the word “autoadmit”?

it’s 100% about blocking the competitors.

The competition prints less flattering possibly more honest information about the schools. I think the schools promote this site and carefully guard the information. Like a mini Nasa lol

Rich kids, celeb kids, powerful families with kids all go there they stick together and vacation together etc. And then there are the rest of us. If you think you can break in you can’t but the other kids whose parents are teachers, laborers etc are great!

If you really want to get a feel for Brown, talk to a student and setup a visit. You can sleep over and go to classes and experience it for real. Many friends of mine did this at Brown and other schools and it was way more helpful than reading school bios… those are written by the school so of course they will be biased.

I did not do the visitation, but I have hosted multiple prospective students. They all loved Brown, or at least that’s what they told me.

Blue5uit I am not sure why you think that, but I have friends who are rich and those who are not. I came to Brown knowing 2 people who are middle class like myself. Just dont be shy and you can become friends with anyone

i agree with brownie2016. there are a lot of rich kids there but i often found that it was never “cool” to be rich, or at least to flaunt it

My recent graduated student’s circle of close friends at Brown includes some of the richest and poorest students, some from near and some from “very” far, some that are very liberal and some that are “conservative” (by Brown standards at least). Brown is very much a “mixing” school if you let it be for you.

I honestly think you should visit…it’s a great place, but what everyone said is right
