We got an invitation to this event, but it doesn’t say what it is. Anyone know? It’s January 14th from 8:30-2:00.

It’s a day when prospective honors students are invited to spend the day at Bama. There are various speakers and such. I don’t know if it’s worth going to. You don’t get any personal attention that day since literally a 1000 people are there…kids and parents. Only one parent can attend because of space limitations.

There aren’t any full campus tours that day, so if you’ve never been to Bama before, you won’t get the tour. There is a brief walking tour around the Quad, but that doesn’t show you much of the entire school. There is a tour of housing.

[Capstone Scholars Day - Undergraduate Scholarships - The University of Alabama](http://csd.ua.edu/csd.html)

intinerary isn’t up yet…but if you look at University Days, it’s somewhat similar except CSDay knows you’ve already applied and scholarship deadline has passed, so they don’t go thru all that. http://universitydays.ua.edu/schedule.pdf

Have you been to Bama before?

Some people arrive on Thursday nite, do the tour on Friday, then do CSDay on Saturday. However, the tours on Friday book fast, so don’t delay if that’s desired.

Thanks! We actually visited last Friday. We joined the regular campus tour at 10, but also had appointments with the Honor’s College, Engineering, and Band. I sent the card back to accept, but I’ll wait until the agenda comes out to see for sure if we’ll go.

Oh good! You’ve visited!

Are you far away?

We’re in West Tennessee, about 4 hours away. DD still really wants Georgia Tech, and their admissions decisions should come out tomorrow. But, unless she gets one of their Presidential Scholarships, she won’t be going- $40,000 OOS. She really liked the visit last Friday. She applied for the Fellow when she completed her Honors College app, so we’ll see how that goes.

Is she going to apply to CBH as well? With an engineering interest, she should consider that.

Which scholarship(s) at Bama is she getting? I’m guessing as an eng’g major, she’s getting 2?

I tried to get her to apply for the CBH, but she didn’t want to, but she did apply for the Fellow. As far as scholarships, she gets all her tuition covered, plus $2500 from engineering, which is wonderful, since we’re OOS.

She did get accepted to Georgia Tech- decisions come out today. MIT decisions come out tomorrow. (we know that’s a big stretch.) We won’t know if she’s made the first cut for Georgia Tech’s President’s Scholarship until Monday. It’s very competitive, though.

At this point, it’s wait and see what happens.
