I got the Century Scholar award, which is $8000/yr for 2 years plus guaranteed research. I'm not a sciency or techy person (applied to Social Sciences), so I was pretty surprised.

Any current students have any light to shed on this award? What's the quality of research opportunities that this offers? How do you select which faculty member to collaborate with? What types of research is it? Especially for anyone who is humanities orientated since it seems like that is where I'm heading.

Thanks!

This website should answer all your questions.

Not every student is in a science/tech type field. Some, as you can see in the current students and project page on that site I just directed you to, are in things like psychology and sports management. There are lots of different things you can do with it... and it's primarily up to you.

My son was told by a current faculty member that this is considered very prestigious, so CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations. I know way too many century scholars (I know of at least four maybe five in my year that are at Lovett alone). One was a Philosophy major (now undecided) and he is doing his research with a linguistics professor. I believe they give you a list of available professors to work with and you meet with the ones that you think you might be interested in.
