What is Computer Science?

Okay, I was actually wondering what degree would you get when you graduate after majoring in Computer Science??

Also, do you automatically get a job after you graduate 4 years of undergrad majoring in Computer Science?? How does the process work??

You get a B.S in Computer Science. You don’t “automatically” get a job, you still have to find one just like any other major. There is a lot of demand, though.

But what if you do internships at some company (i.e. Google)? Will that help you get a job there? Will that guarantee you to get one??

Good luck getting an internship at Google. Internships can indeed help you get a job in the field, but you will need to be one of the better interns.

One of the better interns?? What do you mean by that?

Job position qualification is primarily determined by several criteria from high to low priority:

Experience and skills (skills and techniques correlating to the job you are applying for - this can also relate to internships/temporary positions). This also includes good verbal and written skills. Two of the most valued skills to possess

Education and degree specificity (This includes what degrees you have and what specificity they include, such as a B.S. in Chemistry with an emphasis in Medicine and a M.S. in Pharmaceutical sciences with an emphasis in drug delivery, etc - the more time you have spent in school, generally correlates to a greater job salary and better position.)

Resume (This includes a cover letter as well as a brief 1-2 page of your skills, education, references upon request, and other things that might make you stand out)

Lastly is your College GPA or the University you attended. Other things similar to this would be put into this category (such as filler or fluff - but not essential information)

When it comes to a company like Google, you can’t expect to be the only intern.

Oh, of course not! There must be tons of other interns…but is it possible to make yourself stand out??? Make yourself stand out from all the other interns? How would you make yourself stand out?

Do the best work, unfortunately it can be a competition.
