What is Considered a 'Significant Change' in an SAT Score?

I was recently deferred from my top choice school, and have been debating about what I can do to stand out during the regular decision period. They indicated that one of the best updates a student could give would be an improvement in test scores. I am familiar with the SAT, and I’ve taken it once before, but I’m not really sure what a ‘significant improvement’ in a score would be, and if that would even be realistic to achieve. I scored a 2020 last time, without much prep. I will sign up to take the test Jan 23rd if I do take it again, giving me a little more than a month to prep. What kind of improvement would be significant enough to send a update over? Thanks so much for your answers!

Probably a 100+ leap. You should be aiming for a 2100 or more this time, but if you really didn’t study AT ALL before taking the first one you can easily get 2250+. Just make sure to study. I didn’t study for my first take, got a 2190. Didn’t study for second test, got a 2180, but thanks to superscore it raised my overall score to 2260.
