What is considered to be a "good" financial aid package?

I'm just curious. I see everyone complaining about theirs, but I think mine looks decent..but maybe I'm wrong.

Care to share? I mean, it depends on the family… -.-

I’ll just copy and paste what I’ve got

Grants:

Total Resources to Meet Net Cost = $8,970

Total Estimated Aid = $25,523

i don’t remember specifically but i’m getting about 15 thousand in grants and then the rest is being covered by loans

I wonder what the most grant one could get is, I have a EFC of 0 this year, can’t wait to see my aid estimate. Think I might get a SMART grant as well as the typical stuff. I’m hoping for at least 18000 in grants.

Pell Grant $5,300
Possible Cal Grant B + $1,551

Hmmm I wonder why my package is totally different… is it because I am a Winter admit?

My costs are totally different too… O_O

Yeah I think it’s because you’re a Winter admit. Your Direct Costs, Books and Supplies and Living Expenses are two-thirds since you’ll be there two quarters instead of the regular three quarters? My guess.

yes its because you are a winter admit. you pay one quarter less of housing / tuition

I only get $1,991 in grant aid. =(
The rest is loans. Most of it is PLUS loans which are really bad.

holy cow, u guys got nice financial aid.

im looking at around 15k in loans per year (student/parent combined)

Direct Costs (Registration Fees & Health Insurance) $9,838
Books and Supplies + $1,560
Living Expenses + $14,125

Total Gift Aid $14,555
Total Resources to Meet Net Cost $10,968

Total Estimated Aid = $25,523

I don’t understand… So even without Regents I’d still end up paying the same thing??

18,000 in gift aid
5,000 in loans (3,000 sub & 2,000 unsub)

That’s what a good financial aid package looks like.

What is required of such a package? Smart grant and 0 EFC?

I think I got about 15,000 in loans too.

How low must your income be to get a Pell Grant? My parents aren’t working this year…yet our income still too high to qualify for one?

Oh, never mind. Apparently you have to have an EFC around 4600 and my EFC is almost twice that. =/

my school counselors said they submitted my cal grant on time and everything…yet I didn’t get any money from cal grants. I only got 222 bucks from UCSD…
***?

What was your EFC?

dam Cal Grant A is so much more.
