And do you need to have done the readings in these AP course curriculums to be successful taking either or both of these exams?

You can take both from what I heard.

Most people tell me that Lang&Comp is not “studyable” and if you have a strongbackground in English you dont’ need to even study.

I am doing Lang on my own right now…

I felt like lang/comp is dependent on natural writing abilities.

&& lit/comp you should have a strong background in literary technical/analytical writing if you want a 5. If you know how to correctly employ/have general knowledge of terms such as enjambment, deus ex machina, plosives, fricatives, sibilants, etc. I think you’re good to go!

Lang/Comp is more about analyzing the way that writers use language and about being able to explain techniques that they use in writing. Basically, what you’ve been doing in English class for a long time. I’m doing Lang on my own.

Lit does require that you’ve done some reading just so that you have something to work with for the essays, but things that you’ve read throughout high school could even suffice for that. I’m taking the Lit class.

oh one more thing I forgot to mention. most colleges only take ONE of the two AP credits. I know you said lang OR lit, but I just wanted to remind you, you don’t need to/shouldn’t take both. :)

I’ve heard that Language is MUCH easier that Lit. I googled easiest AP courses and Lit repeatedly is mentioned as one of the hardest. Language is repeatedly referred to as easy. Good luck.

AP English Language is supposed to be easier than AP English Literature. AP English Language just required that you know how to write well and rhetorically analyze essays. I don’t know much about AP English Literature, but for the FR, you’re suppose to read a few major novels and be prepared to write an essay on one of them.
