What is ED2

what's ED2? Is it diffrent from early decision?

some schools have to early decisions; like one deadline will be november and the other january (but still before regular decisions are due). it's still binding, just gives you a little more time.

do you know if you can apply ED and then have time for ED2 if you dont get accepted ED1?

question: but it's "easier" to get in ED1 than ED2, right?

Nope. They're equivalent.

Well, if you apply ED 1 to a school and get rejected, it's over with that school. You can apply ED 2 to another school after the first rejection though. as you will find out the ED 1 results around Dec.15, and most ED 2 apps are due in January. However at this point you will also have to send in Regular D. apps, as those are due Jan.1

ED2 is for schools like Colgate & Middlebury, who have many candidates applying ED to Dartmouth & Williams. Once students have been rejected or deferred from the latter two, they still have the opp of a second chance of using the early quiver at a similar, albeit slightly less selective, school.

don't forget WUSTL

Rice's ED 2 is non-binding

I don't think WUSTL has ED2 anymore.

Rice has ED 1 only. They do have something else called Interim Decision, which I suppose works like Early Action, in that they let you know early, but it is non-binding. For ID, you submit by Dec.1, and they let you know by Feb.10.

And WUStL does not have ED 2 either.
