What is ELC!?

I know that ELC stands for Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC), and that 4% of top high school students in a class are guaranteed admission into a UC Campus…

Anyway…
1). Do they send you a letter of notification, if you reach this top 4%? If so, when???
2). Can you select what campus you would like to attend?
3). When are the ELC decisions out?

more info on this page

<a href="http://www.ucop.edu/sas/elc/calendar.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.ucop.edu/sas/elc/calendar.html</a></p>

1) Mid August - UC system will officially let you know.
The high schools send in the names of their top 4% to the UC system by July 17, so you might be able to find out from your high school if you can contact them during the summer.

2) you just do the regular application and pick which UCs you want for your application, but some schools (Irvine, Riverside, varies per year) will send you a letter before the application deadline saying you are guaranteed admission (Irvine depends on your major, many exclusions to the guarantee).

3) ELC Decisions - to my knowledge, each UC includes them in thier regular admission notification process.

Note: on this page that it only your 10th and 11th grade UC-approved a-g courses that go into the calculation of the top 4% at your school. So you can't go by your school rank to try to guess if you are in top 4%.

Also, just becasue your high school considered a course as honors and gives it an extra point for GPA, doesn't mean that the UC system gives it the extra point in calculating thier GPA.

Find on this page for your high school, what courses count as a-g and also which ones get the extra GPA point:

Thanks for the info!!!
