Biochemistry is required for the MCAT, but it’s not a first course to take. (You need OChem first.)

I suggest you check your college’s biology department webpage. It will usually list a suggested course of study for biology majors. Whatever class listed there is the one you should enroll in, even you aren’t planning on majoring in biology.

Upham,
Do you believe that we will know more about these than advisor or even students at your UG? I hate to dissapoint you…but it is not the case. I would strongly advise talking to somebody at your college.
In regard to the MCAT, the most useful were (before the change) upper level Bio classes in Physiology and Genetics. D. had an opinion that her very challenging first Bio class was not usefull at all for the MCAT. However, there is no way she would be able to sail thru higher level Bio classes without taking the first class despite of AP Bio in HS.

the answer is school specific. Assuming Wayne State, the answer is easily found here:

Which a good thing, since she NEVER took Bio. She took Zoology instead.

(What I don’t understand miami, is why you continue to diss Gen Bio when your D’s college doesn’t even offer it. Your pov is not just helpful.)
