IGETC and CSU GE (which is different from CC GE for your AA or AS) should be almost completely the same. The only major difference is that IGETC has a Foreign Language req and CSU GE has a Public Speaking req (in leiu of the FL). Otherwise you can follow either list as many classes overlap. I too go to DA and have been comparing the reqs for both systems for the past year and everytime I search through them, I have taken the same classes that are on both lists minus the major difference I listed above.

If you know your first options for transfer are UC, then it is best to follow IGETC from the start unless your intended major specifies you not to (for example, most Engineering programs). If you know you’d like to go to a CSU, then following the CSU GE is fine (and I think it’s a few units less overall), although CSU will also accept IGETC certifications.

Like disco is trying to get across, I think the most important thing you realize is that you should not be following the GE courses as stated at DA to obtain your AA or AS (unless of course you’d like to earn an AA or AS fro there) since a good majority of the classes they may require for your major are not UC transferrable and will count for nothing in the end when trying to transfer.
