What is in the transcript you send? Does it show your class rank for all years of HS?

My counselor already sent my transcript to the common app and I'm wondering what is on it. Right now my final transcript includes everything but my senior year's first semester grade which is no problem because the semester is not done yet. What I'm wonder is that if the transcript that is sent includes my class rank from ALL years of high school.

I'm currently ranked 30 in my school which is in the top 5% but what is more impressive is that in freshman year I was ranked 80 and worked my way up. I have a copy of my transcripts from my freshman, sophomore, and junior year so I'm thinking of putting them in the "Additional info" section of the common app and explain my growth. Is that a good idea?
Thanks in advance!

I would avoid putting that into the additional info section. Though I’m not quite sure if that qualifies for it, it is not a special instance. Quite a few students demonstrate growth/improvements over time as many tend to botch up their freshman grades. Also, such growth would be quite obvious from the transcript alone so won’t need additional explanation. The admissions officers–depending on the college you’re applying to–will be very busy and won’t appreciate more things to look at, especially if they aren’t of any use.

Ask your counselor. In my case, my unofficial transcript only had the UW GPA. Seems like the Official transcript did so too. But the school profile (?) the counselors attach to the Common App - which is separate from the transcript I believe? - had the Weighted GPA as well as the Weighted Class Ranks. And they were all for cumulative grades/ranks over the past years (Freshman-> Junior). Well, that was for ED. I think for RD senior grade might also be part of the ranks. But again, ask your school counselor as each school has its own policies

I agree with the above poster - you working your way up will be obvious by your grades. Admissions officers can easily tell from your transcript if there’s an upward trend. No need to explain it further; that’ll probably hurt your chances, honestly.

I believe schools/districts all format transcripts differently. Mine has my class rank, size, and GPA (actually, several GPAs, all calculated differently) on it, but no class rank or GPA history.
