I am having an extremely tough time choosing which college I would like to attend. I got into Binghamton’s Advantage Program. I would be living on Binghamton’s campus but taking a bus to Broome Community College for classes for a year then transfer to Binghamton. Apparently Binghamton thinks I am not ready for the academics at a 4-year institute. Stony Brook on the other hand accepted me. I got into their psychology program and I know Stony Brook has the better psychology department. I’m just concerned about living on Stony Brook’s campus. From reviews I have read the food at Stony Brook is HORRIBLE. Also I read that the dorms are run down. I live in Rochester which is about 7 hours away so it it very important to me that i feel comfortable in whichever school I attend. I’m also wondering if you can request a roommate who is from out of state or upstate NY. Can any current students at Stony Brook tell me what it’s like being a student there? Any advice would be appreciated.
Anyone?
Some buildings at sbu are run down, but there are buildings that have been recently renovated. As for the food, not all the food on campus is horrible, just the majority. Food is RIDICULOUSLY expensive considering its quality. However, campus dining will be signing a contract with a new vendor next semester, so hopefully the quality of food increases.
Campus living is really a hit or miss. Stony Brook does have the better psychology department.
You can request a room mate but also make sure that they request you so then you two can match up. (Thats how i did it)
Stony Brook food is horrendous. Overpriced, small portions and they take 600$ away for no reason.
