What is it like at West Virginia University?

I already know everything about academics that I need to know, but now I'm wondering about the life in the university. How is the party scene? What are the people like? (preppy, hick, a bit of everything, etc)?? How are the guys, girls? I love going to concerts, raves, so id there any of that? Anything about the campus life Id like to know

You headed to college or summer camp?

lol sounds like op wants a summer camp. But good news op, wvu has what you’re looking for! As someone who grew up in morgantown and went to WVU for a short while, i can tell you it is a par-tee-squeul. There was documentary film crew that came in town in 2012 that filmed st. patties day that year, they called it ‘Im shmacked: wvu’ or something similar. Look it up on youtube to get a feel for an average party day at wvu. Not even exaggerating in the slightest. Its definitely calmed down from what it used to be though. You may remember back (or maybe not) a couple years ago we made the news for couch burnings. There was a hazing death on campus last year i believe, so the GS is pretty active and wild, (not Oklahoma wild however lol). The couch burning is a tradition that still goes on today (albeit much less common). Games days in town are just a big party. Don’t expect us to win much now since we joined the Big 12 but its still a party-day nonetheless. Average student life is pretty laid back. There is not much to do in town other than shopping, studying and drinking. The downtown core of morgantown, the aptly named ‘high street’, is home to your standard fanfare and boilerplate college town bars and clubs. The student population i would say is 30 % hick, 30 % preppy and the other 40 % is just pretty average, out-of-state types. Girls are mostly hot, a lot are not. Guys are pretty average. GS guys are only slightly better looking, but overall its a pretty level playing field. Concerts are pretty decent but few and far between. They have them often at the local basketball arena called the ‘coliseum’, and at Fall Fest. There are a lot more concerts if you don’t mind the hour and 20 minute drive up north to Pittsburgh. Nothing really in the Rave department, sorry, that again would be a Pittsburgh trip. Driving up there really is not bad. WVU is currently in a building frenzy, so you’ll see a lot of construction around campus if you decide to go there. Keep in mind that wvu’s acceptance rate is right around 80-85%, so they’re literally letting damn near anyone who applies to come right in the front door. If the social scene is that important to you, i would understand that going forward. That said, wvu is a huge party school, one of the biggest in the country.

Good luck!
