what is it like to be an engineer at ut austin?

i want to go to ut austin and study aerospace engineering (hopefully)

and i would just like to know what is it like as a aerospace engineer?

how much time will it take up outside of school hours?

can one still have fun?

is there anytime to party like once a week?

btw this is the first time posting on here so forgive me if i posted in the wrong section...
i couldnt find a way to post only way i found it going to the top forums sections listed

Let me test my understanding of your question.

You want to go to UT Austin and study aerospace engineering but you wonder about how much time it will take up outside of attending class; also, whether you will still be able to have fun and party once a week? /s

yeah thats pretty much sums it up

I’m not in aerospace but I’m sure if you manage your time well you’d have time for parties. Also you’ll have time for fun, if you consider studying fun lol

oh i hope so i can

A = engineers who study a lot
B = engineers who party a lot
C = engineers who make good grades

The following combinations exist at UT:

ABC, A’BC, AB’C, ABC’, A’B’C, A’BC’, A’B’C’, AB’C’

Oh common, you know what he means… :)

Depends on which engineering major, some are easier than others. Speaking as an EE major, you will hate every other person that has a different major because they have free time and probably a 4.0 with their easy major.

Word to what nv1993 said. I am ChemE though.

well i want to do aerospace engineering or mechanical engineering. Not really a big fan of electrical engineering which im assuming is a good thing?

A lot of it will depend on how good you are at it. For some, it never clicks so they have to spend hours trying to force the stuff into their heads. For others, it comes more naturally and free time abounds (relatively speaking).

well i always really love learning about it whenever the chance comes up like on tv on history channel and dicovery channel or look it up info online or see documentarys on netflix. It always clicks to me and it really captures my imagination. Really love anything to do with astronautical technology and the physics…
