How is it like? I heard it will be by far the toughest thing you worked on, far tougher than any grad or undergrad-level courses. How time-consuming is it if you only work on a thesis and take 1-2 undergrad classes and have to TA?

I'm currently in a Physics Phd program and although I just want to drop out after getting the Master's, working on a thesis for 2 semesters is required. Since I don't want to have a career in research, I'm not excited about having to do the thesis, but I have no choice.

Well you really only have three choices: finish the PhD and work on a dissertation eventually, stop at a master’s degree and work on a thesis, which is considerably less work than a doctoral dissertation, or just drop out altogether. I am not sure what your question here is. It is time consuming. Why would you be taking undergrad classes while working on it? It is generally best to devote as much time to a thesis/dissertation as you have free to do a good job, even if that means it is the only thing you are working on.

I made a typo. I meant how is the thesis when you have to take grad courses at the same time? I just want to get an idea as to how tough the thesis will be, since I’ve only done coursework and undergrad research projects so far
