I'm at a university right now, and I've found a nice little group of friends and groups I'm involved in.

However, I'm somewhat interested in transferring, and I was wondering what the change is like? I've heard people say it's hard to meet people, and everybody already has their own little niche, making it really difficult to assimilate into a new college atmosphere.

Is any of that true? Or is that just the negative voices outweighing the positive ones?

I am a transfer student who just transfered to my current school this past January. It is hard to meet people when you aren’t a freshmen living in the dorms. However, I have met people through my roommates and through clubs and in class. If you are not somewhat outgoing it will be even harder.

My advice would be to move in with a group of roommates and join clubs that are in your major or just for fun. That way you can broaden your friends group easier than moving in with one roommate or by yourself. Also, I have found that participating in class discussions also helps. I am pretty talkative in all my classes so people will just come up to me when class gets out. Hope this helps a little!
